My grandma has been living with my family since I was born. She would drive me to school, take my sister and me to the playground, and help me with Chinese school homework every week. My Ahma, which means grandma in Taiwanese, has always been there for me to make me laugh. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with dementia in early 2019. It’s hard to communicate with her sometimes, but I’m grateful for the moments where I’m able to laugh with her again. Traveling and taking pictures in our backyard are activities that help to bring back Ahma’s true personality which is what I hope to convey with my photos of her.
